Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin said he is disappointed with some members of the Ethereum community for being too welcoming to blockchain casinos.
During an Ask-Me-Anything (AMA) session on Tako, he was asked if he had ever felt let down by the Ethereum Foundation, the crypto industry, or the Ethereum community. He simply responded, “Of course.”
Buterin pointed out that some believe Ethereum should open its arms to gambling applications and memecoins. He seemed to take a jab at Solana, which has seen a lot of memecoin activity in the past year.

Some Ethereum supporters worry that Ethereum will lose its competitive edge if it does not adapt to these trends. Solana, on the other hand, has attracted more new developers and top talent.
Buterin disagrees with the idea that Ethereum should follow the hype. He believes that moving in this direction would be a “moral reversal” for the community. If things continue this way, he might stop being part of the Ethereum ecosystem.
Even though he is disappointed, Buterin also noticed that people’s opinions online are different from their opinions in person.
“On the internet, many people will say those things, but when I chat with the community in person, everyone’s values are the same as before,” he said. This made him feel that he had a responsibility to stay and not walk away from Ethereum.
Buterin’s comments come as Ethereum competes against other blockchains. There are others who think that it needs to follow trends like memecoins and gaming, while some believe that it must stick to its original focus of building useful applications.
